We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Physician Assistant to support the Naval Branch Health Clinic in Gulfport, MS.



The physician assistant will provide a full range of services in accordance with privileges granted by the Commanding Officer (e.g. supervise and provide general screening and medical care and examination of patients for routine, acute and chronic conditions involving any and all organ systems; provide immunizations; diagnose, treat, and counsel patients as indicated.)

Adhere to NAVMEDCOMINST, Utilization Guidelines for Physician Assistants.  This instruction includes the following requirements:  permits physician assistants ordering and administration of an approval list of drugs according to protocol and requires random review of records of patients seen by the physician assistant.

Request consultation or referral with appropriate physicians, clinics, or other health resources as indicated.

Order diagnostic tests as applicable.

Prescribe and dispense medications as delineated by the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.

Promote preventive and health maintenance care, including annual physicals, positive health behaviors, and self care skills through education and counseling.

The contractor physician assistant shall serve as Primary Care manager (PCM) for a panel of patients enrolled to an HMO-style benefit.  The Commanding Officer will enroll to the contractor physician assistant a maximum of 1200 TRICARE Prime Enrollees. 

In addition to enrolled patients, the contractor physician assistant shall treat all other authorized beneficiaries as directed by the Senior Medical Officer, Officer in Charge, or other authority in the chain-of-command.



Be a graduate from a physician assistant training program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on education of the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA)

Possess a current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)

Have a minimum of 1 year of full-time experience within the last 3 years in a health clinic setting
